The Swedish course starts tomorrow!
We are happy to announce that our course of the Swedish language starts on Wednesday and we use this occasion to ask our director, dr Marijana Matic, to tell us more about her stay in Sweden and the impressions of this beautiful country:
“Last year I spent a few weeks in Sweden for the purposes of professional development. Sweden is a leading country in educational innovation. During my stay in a town called Umea I had the opportunity to present my paper on foreign language teaching. The conference served as an opportunity to exchange experiences of good practice with my colleagues from all over the world. I heard about many innovations that we have already started applying in our everyday work here. I cannot remember the last time I attended such high quality conference and I feel proud to have been able to present foreign language teaching in Serbia.”
During her stay in Sweden, Mrs. Matic also spent some time in Stockholm in order to improve her knowledge of Swedish. Read more about her impressions on the language and the culture.
“More and more people want to learn Swedish. It’s a Germanic language, so if one speaks English or German, they can use their previous knowledge in acquiring the new language. It’s a very melodic language, with a simple grammar.
Sweden is definitely my dream country. People are always so willing to give you information, explanation, offer help if you need it. They are very cordial and easy-going. The opportunities for experts in any field are plentiful. The food abounds with fish, sea food, and there’s always international cuisine for those who prefer not to experiment.
Sweden is a very clean country with untouched nature and numerous lakes. Stockholm itself, as the name suggests, is a former fortress spread across a large number of islands, and connected by bridges. The water from the riverbed in the downtown is safe to drink. “
Here are a few expressions in Swedish:
Hej! – Hello!
Hej da! – Hay!
Skal! –Cheers!
