Dejana, we wish you all the best with the Volleyball club “Red Starâ€!
We are proud to announce the fantastic achievement of our student of many years, Dejana Lekic.
Dejana Lekic, a student of the Foreign Languages Centre Patuljak, will play for the volleyball club Red Star Belgrade, and will also continue her schooling there. Dejana is 15 and she came to Patuljak in 2008, when she was a second grade student of elementary school. Hardworking, cheerful and open to new information, she reached the B2 level in English..
She has been playing volleyball since 2010 and she’s already made great success. Last year she played for the national youth A team and won the bronze medal at the Balkans Championship in Ivanjica. She started playing for the senior league of Serbia at the young age of 14, being the youngest player, and as of September 2015 she will become a member of Red Star Belgrade volleyball team and a student of the Sports High School in Belgrade. Here’s what Dejana has to say about managing her time and balancing learning English and sports:
“I started learning English at a young age and I remember it has always been very fun and like a game to me. I learned a lot at Patuljak, but I also met some great friends. I’ve always had an A in English without any difficulties. Later on I started playing volleyball which I love, but I never neglected English. When we go to a competition abroad, I can speak in English to everyone. I hope that my knowledge of English will help me play for a foreign club in the future.”
Dejana will have the opportunity to use her English very soon. Namely, as a member of the national youth team, she will play at the Balkans championship in Ankara, Turkey, in early August. We hope that she will add many medals to the one she won last year.
Great things are in store for Dejana, both in Serbia and abroad. We believe that her talent will be noticed by some of the foreign clubs, and English will surely be useful in her future career of an athlete. We can only tell her that we are proud of her and that we will miss her.
